The Supreme Court has proposed halving the costs of the criminal procedure that ended with the former State Attorney General Álvaro García Ortiz convicted of Alberto González Amador, partner of the Madrid president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso. The lawyer of the Administration of Justice in the cases against authorized persons has issued a decree in which he partially upholds the appeal presented by García Ortiz against the first proposal of the high court, which estimated the costs at almost 80,000 euros. After analyzing the reasons given by the former attorney general for considering the first appraisal as “improper,” the lawyer now proposes leaving them at 39,000 euros. The amount can still change, up or down, because this Friday’s decision is appealable and because the lawyer has yet to decide if the initial amount set (and this new one) is “excessive” as García Ortiz’s defense and the Prosecutor’s Office maintain.
