INSS CPMI report criticizes STF interference – 03/27/2026 – Panel

The rapporteur of the Mixed CPI, deputy Alfredo Gaspar (PL-AL), dedicated a chapter of the report to criticizing what he called “interference” in the commission’s work.

For the deputy, dismissing those summoned compromised the investigative function of parliament.

Gaspar listed some decisions by ministers of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), from 2023, in relation to the CPMI of January 8th. They forced those summoned to appear before the commission, even giving them the right to silence.

In the report, the deputy states that the STF’s recent decisions are at odds with the court’s own historical jurisprudence.

“Meanwhile, during the course of the work of this commission, such guidance was not observed, resulting in undue compression of the prerogatives constitutionally guaranteed to the Parliamentary Commissions of Inquiry”, he concluded.

This Thursday (26), the president of CPMI, senator Carlos Viana (Podemos-MG), did not extend the commission’s work.
