Eduardo says he recorded a video for his father at a right-wing congress, but Moraes bars his cell phone

Former federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) filmed with his cell phone the brief statement he made during a right-wing conference, this Saturday, 28, in the United States, before his brother’s speech, senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), and said that the video was to show his father, former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

By allowing Bolsonaro to temporarily serve house arrest for health reasons, the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes prohibited the former president convicted of attempting a coup d’état from having access to a cell phone or social networks, including via third parties.

Announced on the stage of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Eduardo appeared using a cell phone in a filming position and explained the reason. CPAC brings together representatives of the right and extreme right around the world.

Eduardo says he recorded a video for his father at a right-wing congress, but Moraes bars his cell phone

“Do you know why I’m making this video? Because I’m showing it to my father and I’m going to prove to everyone in Brazil that you can’t stop unfairly arresting the leader of this movement, Jair Messias Bolsonaro”, he said, before announcing the arrival of the “next president of Brazil”.

Alexandre de Moraes authorized, on Tuesday, the 24th, that Jair Bolsonaro undergo temporary humanitarian house arrest, initially for 90 days, after medical discharge, so that he can fully recover from bronchopneumonia. The benefit will be reevaluated by the STF after the period.

Bolsonaro’s transfer from the cell he occupied, in the so-called Papudinha, to his home, in an upscale neighborhood of Brasília, was determined with restrictions.

Moraes prohibited the use of telephones, cell phones or devices that allow contact with the outside world, directly or through third parties. Even in cases of authorized visits, electronic devices must be handed over to police officers before entry.

Bolsonaro’s children who do not live with their father can visit him, but within pre-established times: on Wednesdays and Saturdays, at one of the following times: 8am to 10am, 11am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm.

This Saturday, the 28th, Moraes denied a request from the former president’s defense to extend visitation hours in a kind of “free access” to his children.

“Failure to comply with the rules of temporary humanitarian house arrest or any of the precautionary measures will result in revocation and immediate return to the closed regime or, if necessary, to the penitentiary hospital”, highlighted the minister in the decision.
