Fernando Morais interrupts interview to answer Lula’s call

Writer was participating in the program “Jornal da Bahia no Ar” when he received a call from the President of the Republic

Writer Fernando Morais had a live interview interrupted on Wednesday (April 1, 2026) by a call from the president (PT). The PT member’s biographer paused the conversation with presenter Mário Kertész, on the program.

According to Morais, Lula wanted to know what the launch of his most recent book, Lula, volume 2: Biography. The 1st volume of the work was released in 2021.

“Boy, I don’t like saying these things that make it seem like you’re throwing confetti at your own head, but I had to interrupt the interview with you here, who was the President of the Republic, wanting to know how the book launch went here in São Paulo. I had to tell him that I got tendonitis in my hand from signing so many autographs, with the amount of people there were here”, said Morais after returning to the interview.

Fernando Morais wrote biographical works about Olga Benário Prestes, Assis Chateaubriand and Paulo Coelho.

The writer also produced books on historical and political themes. In 1976, he published “The Island”, based on his experience in Cuba. In 2000, he launched “Corações Sujos”, which examines Shindo Renmei’s operations in Brazil. In 2005, he published “Na Toca dos Leões”, focused on Brazilian advertising. In 2011, he released “The Last Soldiers of the Cold War”, about Cuban spies.
