INSS takes action to reduce maternity pay queue – 05/10/2026 – Panel

The INSS (National Social Security Institute) set up a task force to analyze those who have not responded for more than a month. The goal, according to the agency, is to evaluate 61,000 applications this month, which represents around 32% of the stock.

The effort was called the National Mobilization Action for Specialized Maternity Salary Analysis – MAES, in reference to the , celebrated this Sunday (10). The action started on Friday (8) and runs until the 22nd.

The granting of maternity pay practically doubled in one year, after the (Supreme Federal Court). In January last year, the INSS authorized 48 thousand benefits of this type; in December, 94 thousand. Requests went from 115 thousand in January to 161 thousand in November.
