Júlia Pinheiro reads a message from Diogo Jota and André Silva's parents live: “See you later…”

On the afternoon of this Wednesday, June 17th, the day Portugal debuted in the 2026 World Cup, Júlia Pinheiro presented a special broadcast of the program ‘Júlia’, in which the players Diogo Jota and André Silva, who died in a car accident almost a year ago, on July 3rd 2025, were honored.

The presenter received José Manuel Delgado, journalist and author of the official biography of Diogo Jota ‘Never Again is Long Time’ and, at one point, read a message sent by Isabel and Joaquim Silva, parents of the two young people.

“Despite the pain they live in, Joaquim and Isabel do not hide the pride they had in their children and fight to perpetuate the memory of the two young people and that is why they also accepted, in a very courageous way, I think, to participate in our tribute and the next words I will read are from the parents of Diogo Jota and André Silva”the presenter began saying.

And then read: “And it says like this: “We are very proud of our sons Diogo Jota and André Silva and want to thank everyone who has honored them over this time. It is always very comforting in the face of this horrible reality to know that our children are being recognized, not only professionally, but – and for us much more importantly – on a human level. We feel that we managed to form these two special and wonderful human beings”he said.

“It is comforting to see this constant support and not let them fall into oblivion, we feel that we are not alone. For us, they will never be forgotten. It is an honor to see that their memory and legacy continue. Once again, thank you very much and a deep gratitude to everyone, without exception. And for us it is a see you soon. Joaquim Silva and Isabel Silva”. And thank you very much”it ended.
