Brazilian businessmen are mobilizing to send a plane with 16 tons of medicines to , which was hit by an attack this Wednesday (24).

The articulation is made by Casa Venezuela, an NGO that welcomes Venezuelans living in Brazil. but we are very grateful for the support that the international community has given. The response from Brazilian authorities and the private sector has been very positive”, says Tomás Guzmán, director of the NGO and responsible for coordinating the mobilization among businesspeople.

Casa Venezuela opened a Pix to receive donations. The key is 42004009.0001-10.

Guzmán says that the airline Total, specialized in cargo transportation, provided a plane to take the medicines to Venezuela, charging only the cost of fuel, estimated at R$400,000.

Brazilian businesspeople are being contacted to ask them to help cover the cost. “We have a great relationship with several companies and business associations, which are our partners in employment programs for Venezuelan refugees living in Brazil”, says Guzmán.

The medicines have already been offered by pharmaceutical companies, just waiting for flight confirmation. With Caracas’ main airport closed because of the tremor, the option is to land in Valencia, a city close to the capital.

Among the products being gathered are first aid kits, plasters for broken limbs, gauze and antibiotics to prevent illnesses caused by poor hygiene conditions that will manifest themselves in the days following the disaster.

Water shipping is also being organized, but in this case the option is by land, for logistical reasons.
