They are seeking to sell more energy and defensive equipment in India, the US vice president said today during a visit to the country, adding that the links between Washington and New Delhi will form the 21st century.
“If India and the US are successfully working together, we will see a 21st century with prosperity and peace,” Vans said in a speech in Jaipur, NW India.
“But if we fail to work successfully, the 21st century may be a very dark period for all humanity,” he added.
Vance’s four -day visit to India is largely and private. The US Vice President traveled to the country with his wife, Osa, who was born in California by Indian parents, and their three children.
The visit, however, also comes at a time when New Delhi attempts to negotiate US customs duties on its products. India is threatened by imposing a 26% duty on its exports to the US, announced by Donald Trump on April 9, before postponing them for 90 days.
“Prime Minister Monty is a harsh negotiator. He makes a hard bazaar, “Vance said in his speech in Jaipur.
Until autumn, Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said from San Francisco yesterday.
Vance said he and Monty made progress in the commercial talks and confirmed that the two sides had finalized delegates for trade negotiations. “It sets a road map to a final agreement between our nations,” he said.
Monty: We are committed to mutually beneficial cooperation
“We have examined the progress that was rapidly making after my visit to the US and the meeting with President Trump,” the Indian prime minister wrote in X. He added that: “We are committed to mutually beneficial cooperation, including exchanges between people and commerce, technology, defense, energy and people. The integrated global strategic cooperation of India-USA will be a decisive partnership of the 21st century for a better future of our people and the world. “
Pleased to welcome US and his family in New Delhi. We reviewed the fast-paced progress following my visit to the US and meeting with President Trump. We are committed to mutually beneficial cooperation, including in trade, technology, defence, energy and…

It is recalled that yesterday Monday, US Commercial Representative Jameson Green said that the USTR and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry “completed the terms of reference to determine a road map for negotiations for mutual trade”.
He added that “there is a serious lack of reciprocity in the trade relationship with India”, but he said that “India’s constructive commitment has so far been welcomed and I look forward to creating new opportunities for workers, farmers and businessmen in both countries.”
