Four people were killed in the Russian attack on the city of Bohoduchiv in eastern Ukraine including three young children. This was announced on Wednesday night by a representative of the Kharkiv region, reports TASR according to Reuters and AFP.
The chairman of the regional military administration, Oleh Synjehubov, said on the Telegram platform that they died in one of the houses in the city two one-year-old boys and a two-year-old girl, while a 34-year-old man, the children’s father, succumbed to his injuries.
The woman, identified as the children’s mother, is eight months pregnant and suffered “brain injury, acoustic barotrauma and burns” in the attack. prosecutors said. The house that was hit by the attack was left almost completely destroyed and caught fire, while the family was trapped under the rubble, AFP writes.
The regional prosecutor’s office said it had opened a preliminary investigation into “the commission of a war crime that resulted in the death of civilians.” A 74-year-old woman was also injured. Reports of the incident could not be independently verified, Reuters noted. AFP noted that Russian forces have recently intensified attacks in the Kharkiv region, targeting transport and energy infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Russian authorities said air defenses repulsed a Ukrainian drone attack on energy infrastructure and other targets in the city of Volzhsky in southern Russia’s Volgograd region. Regional governor Andrej Bočarov wrote on Telegram that the attack was “massive”. According to him, he was not injured, but caused damage to one apartment, while fragments of the drone landed near a kindergarten and a fire broke out at a plant in nearby Volgograd.
