The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has reported that it is likely that making up claims about a Ukrainian “counteroffensive” in the vicinity of the Dnipropetrovsk-Zaporiyia regional borders.
The objective of that strange movement would be justify previous false reports issued by the Russian forces themselves in relation to territorial advances and conquests in the aforementioned Ukrainian area. And as the saying goes, lies have very short legs.
According to one this week, it was a Russian military blogger the first to start spread that Ukrainian forces were carrying out a “counteroffensive.”
According to that Russian blogger, the fighters of the country presided over by were taking advantage of both the foggy weather and the recent blockage of Starlink terminals of Russian forces to recover territory.
Also, another russian military blogger claimed that in the east of the Zaporizhzhia region, Ukrainian soldiers were carrying out a “local counteroffensive”. The blogger highlighted that it was the first counteroffensive of that kind in the area for quite some time.
Ukraine denies counteroffensive
The Southern Ukrainian Defense Forces have denied that any counteroffensive is underway in the Zaporizhia region. In fact, they have stated that the Russian forces tried to (falsely) claim to have taken the town of Ternuvate, but in reality the front is about 10 or 15 kilometers from there.
He Colonel Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesman for the Southern Ukrainian Defense Forceshas added in this regard that his troops are executing reconnaissance and search operations directed against Russian infiltration and sabotage groups, movements that have nothing to do with that counteroffensive that they are trying to sell from Russia.
In this sense, the ISW investigation shows that the Ukrainian colonel, after detecting that the Russian forces have disproportionately exaggerated their reports of progress in the area, has come to the conclusion that the Russians themselves are trying to cover up those lies hiding where one Ukrainian counteroffensive has caused them to lose territory (territory they have never actually conquered).
