Bamboo shoots are edible parts of the plant in question that occur in natural conditions in tropical and subtropical Asia. Their appearance may resemble asparagus. They are slightly yellowish in color and, when cut, have a rather delicate consistency. Harvested bamboo shoots are processed in many different ways, although in stores they are most often found in pickled or canned form.
