An audio from the control tower at LaGuardia airport in New York revealed this Tuesday (23) the attempt to avoid collision between an Air Canada Express plane and a fire truck. The accident left two dead, the pilot and co-pilot, and 41 people on board were taken to hospital.
According to the recording, a traffic controller authorized the vehicle to cross the road and then, Urgently ordered him to stopshows a recording.
The aircraft, operated by Jazz Aviation, Air Canada’s regional partner, struck the fire truck on runway 4 at around 11:40 p.m., while the vehicle was heading to another incident.

Minutes later:
Second controller: “Man, that wasn’t good to see.”
First controller: “I know. I was here. I tried to warn my team. And we were dealing with an emergency before. I messed up.”
Second controller: “No, man, you did the best you could.”
Collision at LaGuardia Airport
authorities reported on Monday. The pilot and co-pilot died in the accidentsaid Kathryn Garcia, director of the city’s port authority, at a press conference. Forty-one people were taken to hospitalsome with “serious injuries”, but 32 have already been discharged, Garcia said.
Two aircraft rescue and firefighting agents remain hospitalized in a “stable situation and with no life-threatening injuries,” he added. “They were able to speak and we are notifying the families.”
AFP images show damage to the front and cabin of the Air Canada Express plane, which landed at LaGuardia from Montreal. The plane, a CRJ-900 operated by Jazz Aviation, a regional partner of the Canadian company, hit the fire truck at 9:40 pm on Sunday (10:40 pm Brasília time), when the vehicle was helping in another incident, the New York port authority said.
According to a preliminary list of passengers, four of the 76 people on board the plane were crew. The port authority stated that the airport will remain closed until at least 2 pm (3 pm Brasília time) “to allow for an exhaustive investigation”.
