Two pedestrians were seriously injured in a collision with a car near Čierna nad Tisou in the Trebišov district. The Regional Directorate of the Police in Košice reported on the social network that the driver had a positive drug test. The accident happened on Wednesday (March 25) evening on the road in the direction from the town of Čierna nad Tisou to the village of Malá Trakany.
“The driver of the Volkswagen vehicle hit two pedestrians in the curve, who were walking directly in the lane in the direction of his travel and were not wearing any reflective elements. The driver’s breath test was negative, but the orientation test for the presence of addictive substances came out positive. In the hospital, his biological material was taken, the police confiscated his driver’s license and prohibited him from driving again,” the police said.
According to preliminary medical reports, both pedestrians suffered injuries with an expected healing time of more than 42 days. The pregnant pedestrian was transported to the hospital by the air medical service. The case was taken over by an investigator from the criminal police department of the District Directorate of the Police Force in Trebišov. The cause of the traffic accident and the degree of fault are subject to investigation.
“This accident is a serious warning to all. A driver must not get behind the wheel while under the influence of drugs, and pedestrians should never be on the road without reflective elements in low visibility,“concludes the police.
