Former French police officer arrested in Portugal for killing his partner and ex-wife could be extradited in the coming weeks

The Frenchman suspected of killing his partner and ex-wife is expected to learn about the coercive measures this Thursday. Cédric Prizzon was detained on Wednesday by the GNR in the Mêda area, while he was traveling with his two children.

Arrival at the court was so quick and discreet that the cameras were unable to record the moment. Handcuffed and under close police surveillance, Cédric had an investigating judge waiting.

There was police reinforcement nearby and, inside the court, he was accompanied by an unofficial lawyer. Justice was looking for answers to the two homicides.

The bodies of Audrey, 40 years old, Cédric’s ex-partner, and Angela, 26 years old, girlfriend, in Bragança. Both died from asphyxiation.

Cédric is the only suspect, but the former French police officer, detained by the GNR, did not confess to the crimes. The case gained an international dimension and shook the usual peace of mind in the village of Vila Nova de Foz Côa.

Outside the court, there were media outlets, including foreigners, awaiting coercive measures and the likely extradition in the coming weeks.

Cédric must be tried in France, where he has always lived, for double murder and kidnapping of his two children. The youngest is a year and a half and both are now at a host institution.

According to the French press, it was the eldest son, aged 13, who revealed the exact place where the bodies were buried.

The father and suspected murderer, aged 41, was detained in Mêda, Guarda, more than 150 kilometers away, during a road inspection operation. In addition to false documents, he had a firearm, false license plates and R$17,000 in banknotes.

French justice revealed this Thursday that, in the next few hours, police officers specializing in homicides should arrive in Portugal to begin working on the case.
