Robles confirms the death of a second Indonesian blue helmet in Lebanon

The Spanish Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, reported this Monday of the death “a few seconds ago” of a second indonesian blue helmetor in Lebanon during an attack on a convoy.

He explained that, despite the seriousness of the situation, the blue helmets continue to organize convoys and the first of the vehicles of one of those patrols was hit today.

Regarding the Spanish contingent, Robles called to wait for the decisions made by the United Nationswhich he asked to inform political leaders that the safety of the 10,000 blue helmets deployed in the area must be guaranteed.

With this Monday’s attack There are now two Indonesian blue helmets killed in Lebanon. Last night another Indonesian soldier was killed by a shell explosion at a UNIFIL base near Adchit Al Qusayr, while another was seriously injured.

The latter is found in “critical” conditionsaid Robles, who recalled that the Indonesian contingent is under Spanish command at the Miguel de Cervantes base, near Marjayou.
