The impeached former federal deputy was detained by ICE, according to the Federal Police, this Monday (13).
Ramagem lives in Florida with his family and is considered a fugitive from Brazilian justice, after leaving. According to the director general of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues, the former director of Abin left Brazil clandestinely via the border with Guyana.
In March, he was at CPAC, the biggest conservative event in the world, where he acted as a commentator for Timeline Magazine, Bolsonaro blogger Allan dos Santos and other journalists. During the event, he interviewed Brazilian politicians present at the venue and also carried out analyzes for the website.
He did not want to give an interview to Brazilian journalists, but said he was trying to work as a reporter and said he would only return to Brazil with amnesty.
The definitive condemnation of the central nucleus of the coup plot, of which Ramagem was part, was decreed on November 25th.
Two months earlier, he would have moved to a luxury condominium in Florida, while recording videos and voting remotely in Chamber sessions, supported by a medical certificate.
In December, the minister of the (Supreme Federal Court) ordered the opening of the extradition process.
This Monday (13), Allan dos Santos stated on social media that “no one persecuted by [Alexandre de] Moraes will be helpless.”
“Pray for Ramagem, that everything will be resolved. American laws are very clear and everything will be conducted within American laws”, he declared. Afterwards, he stated that Ramagem is undergoing “immigration administrative proceedings in the United States, without any criminal charges. The defense is already acting and the case is following legal procedures before the competent authorities.”
