President of the Foreign Relations Commission of Brazil, Nelsinho Trad (PSD-MS) stated this Friday (29) that a meeting should be held in order to hear from the Embassy of Brazil and the government (PT) about the classification of the CV (Comando Vermelho) and the (Primeiro Comando da Capital).
Nelsinho Trad also said that the possibility of organizing a mission of parliamentarians to the United States to discuss the decision, announced on Thursday (28) by the government, has not been ruled out. In July last year, a group went to the country to impose taxes on Brazil.
“We will not shy away, if necessary, from carrying out the same procedure: setting up a multi-party commission, without political bias, going to the United States and checking exactly which procedures need to be taken so that this measure can contribute to the fight against violence without harming national sovereignty”, declared Trad in an interview with SBT News.
According to the senator, the idea for the meeting is to invite representatives of the parties that may be involved in the matter, such as the Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs, and experts to assess the effects of the measure on public security, national sovereignty and the Brazilian economy.
In the case of American diplomacy participation, it is not defined who will be invited. The position of the country’s ambassador to Brazil is vacant. Today, the main name in the representation for commercial matters is the charge d’affaires of the United States, Gabriel Escobar.
The hearing must take place at the Joint Commission for the Control of Intelligence Activities, which is also chaired by Trad. The group has already approved a working meeting on the topic. The collegiate brings together senators and deputies.
There is still no date set for the hearing, but, according to the Sheetit is expected to be on June 9th. Next week, Congress will be emptied due to the optional point for the celebration of Corpus Christi, on Thursday (4).
