The candidate (Fuerza Popular, right) was leading the counting of the 2nd round of the presidential elections in Peru until 4:45 am this Friday (June 12, 2026). With the votes counted, the daughter of former president Alberto Fujimori had a minimal advantage, of around 1,000 votes, over her opponent (Juntos por el Perú, left).
The dispute is among the closest in the country’s recent history. The count is published through electoral records, official documents that record the votes counted at each table.
In the last bulletin, the right-wing candidate received 50.004% of the valid votes, compared to 49.996% for her opponent. Mathematically, there is still the possibility of changing the result.
Here is the partial table of the investigation:
- 92,766 minutes recorded;
- 1,607 minutes to be sent to the Special Electoral Jury;
- 9 over pendentes.
The count has been undergoing changes during the week and on Monday (June 8), Keiko was leading the count, went ahead and came back in the early hours of Thursday (June 11).
