How did Atlético-MG lose its place in the 2025 Libertadores?
Galo had two ways of getting a place in the next edition of the Libertadores: beating Botafogo in this Saturday’s final or through the Brazilian Championship. However, the club led by Gabriel Milito lost the decision 3-1 at Monumental de Núñez.
For the Brasileirão, Corinthians and Bahia reached 50 points, against 44 for Atlético. With two games left until the end of the competition, Galo can no longer catch up to its competitors due to the number of victories – 14 for Bahia and 13 for Corinthians, against 10 for Atlético.
It is worth noting that Galão da Massa could also have secured a place in the next edition of the continental tournament in the Copa do Brasil, but was defeated by Flamengo in the decision.
Now, it remains to fight for a place in the Copa Sudamericana.
It’s over, Clube Atlético Mineiro is officially out of Libertadores 2025.
