The popular Spanish resort of Alicante has been rocked by an extremely violent event that has left the local community in shock. The body of a three-year-old girl and her father were hanged in the garage of the grandparents’ family home. According to the information of the portal, it was a violent act in which the man took his daughter’s life and then himself.
Even before the discovery itself, the girl’s mother tried to establish contact with her former partner. As the man did not respond and she began to have serious doubts about the safety of their daughter together, she decided ask the police for help.
Unfortunately, her darkest scenarios were confirmed soon after. After this traumatic discovery, the mother went into severe shock, which required the immediate intervention of medical professionals. Due to her mental state, she remains under professional supervision.
The investigation of the tragedy in Alicante revealed the chilling background of the whole act. According to the portal the girl’s father could not process the breakup and the fact that his ex-partner found a new boyfriend. He even threatened his ex-partner repeatedly that if she did not end the new relationship, he would harm their common daughter.
This case caused a wave of indignation throughout Spain and it happened a memento of so-called vicarious violence. This is a specific and extremely cruel form of domestic violence, where the aggressor attacks children with the sole purpose of causing lifelong pain and psychological suffering to the mother.
“Victory violence against women is the cruelest and most extreme form – it is violence that kills children to harm women. It is a terrible, terrifying terrorism that must reach and affect the whole of society.” said Pilar Bernabé, delegate of the Spanish government to the Community of Valencia.
